Herbs to Use
Here are some ideas for herbs that work well as oxymels. Julia will explain more about the plant we're highlighting, lemon balm, in the next lesson.
Good for children and for calming digestion:
- Peppermint
- Lemon balm
- Chamomile
Bitters for digestion:
- Burdock root
- Dandelion root
Anti-microbial for a sore throat:
- Bee balm
- Thyme
The recommend dose for the above herbs in oxymel form, and most herbs in this form, would typically be about 1-2 tablespoons per day (remember to double check dosing for herbs you aren't familiar with). You may want to take a break and not take an oxymel every day due to the acidity. Oxymels are a fun and tasty remedy, so enjoy!
