About Herbal Salves
An herbal salve or a "balm" is a combination of oil, herbs, and beeswax that is applied to the skin. Salves are nourishing and healing and are usually applied to dry skin, bug bites, small superficial wounds (not fresh or deep wounds), and some kinds of rashes.
Herbs that work really well in salve form include calendula, plantain and comfrey.
In this section, you'll learn how to first make an infused herbal oil, and then how to use that infused oil to make a salve. These products are a fundamental part of any herbalists home apothecary, and good to have on hand for many purposes. And, they're easy and fun to make!
